Mature Life Cycle Program Management

EMS Defense & Space provides critical and mission-enabling large scale subsystems to some of the world’s largest defense programs. Delivering our subsystems to these major platforms and programs requires a robust and mature program management process. We must deliver on our commitments on-time, within cost, and on performance.

Our audited program management team and process is comprehensive. We manage cost, schedule, and risk throughout the program life cycle, and provide the transparency, interaction, and cooperation with our customers and their customers.

Managing Risk

EMS Defense & Space is a technology leader. We take on tough problems in many of the programs we perform. Consequently, success for our customers means managing risk. A key element of our program management approach is therefore risk management wherein we:

  • Identify risks early
  • Look at risk from many dimensions
  • Utilize TRL and MRL standards
  • Characterize each risk item
  • Assess probability of occurrence and impact
  • Implement risk waterfall plans

We work with our customers and both characterize and implement risk management compatible with the program.

Adapting to Customer Needs

We adapt program management to the task and customer at hand including rapid study programs, large development programs, and multi-year, multi-lot production programs. We do this in flexible program plans and under a variety of contract environments including fixed price and cost plus arrangements. We believe a critical enabling subsystem must be integrated into our customer's system and program.
