Certified & Demonstrated Quality. . . Quality is important in every thing we do, and for everyone we do it for. It is particularly important for space where you literally get one shot and it has to work. It is also vital in the commercial airlines industry where passenger safety is at stake.

EMS Defense & Space Systems operates in both of these high quality environments, and we do it well. Today we provide systems for commercial airlines to receive satellite TV in flight. This is done under FAA-certified quality and repair standards.

We have also provided satellite anti-jam systems for the next national security EHF communications system, and have delivered all flight sets after completing a rigorous military space quality standards. Defense & Space Systems received a Silver Supplier rating from Northrop Grumman for our effort.

These are just two examples. Through our dedicated team and executive leadership, we ensure quality in all that we do.

  • ISO 9001:2000
  • MIL-PRF-38534 DSSC certified QML hybrid MIC/MHIC manufacturer (Class H/K)
  • FAA certified as a Part 145 Repair Station

In addition we have passed many government and prime contractor audits and often pass with zero non-conformances in the first pass.

 

Beyond Doing It Right, We Do It Lean. . . EMS also excels at lean manufacturing. It starts with a design for production approach and continues into production wherein we continuously assess each step in the process for waste, hidden factories, and non-value added steps. Value stream maps are utilized to analyze the flow at a macro level, and Kaizen events drive process improvements in targeted areas.

The results have been significant. On several programs including the F/A-22 aircraft intra-flight data link system we have reduced the labor content by as much as 70%.

In other instances we have lead Kaizen events at the next level up in the system, and have reduced parts count, cost, and integration times within our customer’s processes.
