EMS D&S has extensive experience in Commercial, Civil and Science Space programs.

Commercial Space

The commercial space industry has a long history of providing Fixed Satellite Services (FSS), Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) and Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) services to businesses and consumers around the globe. From DirecTV to Sirius-XM Radio and satellite Internet and phone capabilities, commercial space provides a broad range of communication, information and entertainment services to end users.

EMS Defense & Space has provided key components of numerous commercial space satellite programs including Iridium, Sirius-XM Radio, DirecTV, ViaSat, iPStar, WildBlue and Anik F2.

Civil and Science Space

Civil and science space programs advance human knowledge of scientific research in space, human space exploration, robotic exploration, earth observations, and imaging and remote sensing. These space programs include NASA's Space Shuttle program, the International Space Station, human travel to the moon, robotic travel to Mars, Earth weather and imaging satellites, and satellite observation of other planets and galaxies.

EMS Defense & Space has a long history of providing solutions for civil and science space programs, including the Space Shuttle, Poseidon, Cassini, Jason, TDRS, Geosat and Envisat. We also are part of NASA JPL's next mission to Mars as we supplied equipment to optimize the Mars Science Lab's descent to the Martian surface. EMS provided six Ka-band slot array antennas that will provide the precise radar inputs to JPL’s electronics to facilitate location and orientation of the vehicle, altitude, speed of descent and surface obstacle detection (to determine a suitable landing location on the Martian surface).
